  Intranets Suck
Cote was talking about Intranets and how they usually "suck." I have always wondered why thousands of people can collectively edit Wikipedia but corporations insist on deploying overly complicated content management solutions? What if anyone in the company could add or change any page on your Intranet wiki? If it works for Wikipedia, why won't it work in the Enterprise?

YUH!

It'd be nice, but I don't think it'll happen in most organizations (outside of those young startups). In an existing, large company, too many people are about carving out their little corner of things that they alone control. On top of that, most everyone in the organization thinks everyone else is an idiot, so they won't trust others to update or fix pages. And finally, how can you change a page without a multi-team meeting about why we need the change, the best way to make the change, who should make the change and when, etc. The technology part of the equation doesn't seem to be the main problem...
